The Leaderboard

The Leaderboard is a season-long points competition designed to help athletes track their progress and encourage participation throughout the RipRoar Youth Triathlon Series. Points are earned at each of our five Summer Series Tour Stops: Waukee, Des Moines, Valley View, Omaha, and Johnston (Champs).

An Athlete’s lowest score on the season will automatically be dropped from their season-long total. This dropped score can happen at any event, including our championships in Johnston.

Our Johnston Championship event will continue to weigh more heavily for Leaderboard points.

After our Johnston Championship event, following the race awards, we will recognize the top 5 Leaderboard athletes in each category and gender.

2022 Regular Season Leaderboard
This leaderboard reflects the 2022 series including the championship event.

Rules For Earning Points:

Points are given based on place within age and gender at each event.
Athletes winning their division at a "regular season" event will receive 100 points.
During the "regular season" each place behind first will receive 4 fewer points (2nd-96, 3rd-92, etc).
Athletes who compete in any event are guaranteed a minimum of 50 points for finishing.
The championships race will be worth a total of 125 points for the winner of each division.
At the championships, each place behind first will receive 5 fewer point (2nd-120, 3rd-115, etc).
After the championships, we will give an award to the top five athletes from each age and gender.
An athlete’s lowest score will automatically be dropped from the leaderboard. This lowest score can occur at any “regular season” event, or at the championships.
Legends division athletes are not eligible for Leaderboard points.
Any athlete who goes undefeated at all 5 RipRoar Summer Series events will be recognized.
